Carolyn Enger

Lauded in Fanfare Magazine for her “lavishing tone and sensitive, nuanced, thoughtful, unhurried timeless playing,” American pianist Carolyn Enger is a musician of rare qualities.. In the New York area she has delivered her distinctly personal concerts at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the Tenri Cultural Center.

Committed to creating compelling programming, , Ms. Enger performs ’s concert repertoire ranging from European masterworks to fresh new discoveries. With a keen interest in performing new works by American and Israeli composers, Carolyn’s recital programs often feature music by Lowell Liebermann, Betty Olivero, Avner Dorman, Lior Navok, Ned Rorem, and Eliezer Elper.

Her dedication for bringing music to new audiences has led Ms. Enger to perform in such settings as Israel’s Bet Yad Lebanim in Nahariya, the Feilja Blumenthal Centre in Tel Aviv and in New York City, at St. Peter’s Church and the Donnell Library Center. Ms. Enger’s community engagement performances have left presenters and audiences “in complete awe of her passion, skill and genuine warmth,” according to Cheryl Wylen, Program Director, Backstage at the Y Concert Series.

Furthering her interest in distinctive concert experiences has led Carolyn to also explore multimedia concert programs about WWII, combining music, literature, and images, centering on the lives of Mischlinge – Half-Jews, in Germany, before, during and after the Holocaust.

Ms. Enger’s debut album, In Evening Air includes music of Beethoven, Scriabin, Hanson, Copland, Rorem, and Liebermann. Inspired by her work while recording this Carolyn looked further into Ned Rorem’s pieces for piano and fell in love with his miniatures. Centaur Records has released her second CD, a world premiere recording of Ned Rorem’s Complete Piano Album I, for which Ned Rorem thanked her for her “wonderful performance of his music.”
